What is backlink outreach?

It’s the difference between earning a place on a site that chose to work with you and renting a slot from inventory that’s sold to anyone who pays.

How I do it

Every step is done by hand. I start with the sites that already link to your competitors, build a prospect list around your niche and check each site for real organic traffic, topical fit and the usual signs of a link farm: thin content, “write for us” pages selling to everyone or traffic that collapsed after the last core update.

Then I write a personal pitch to the editor, negotiate the terms and bring you the opportunity with its metrics and its price. You approve it or skip it. If you approve, you pay the publisher directly. I never add a markup, so my only income from a campaign is the monthly fee.

backlink outreach noun

Backlink outreach is the process of finding websites relevant to your business, contacting their editors or owners directly and earning a link from their content through a guest article, an update to an existing page or an editorial mention, instead of buying placements from a marketplace list.

Also called link building outreach or blogger outreach. The goal is relevant, editorial links that improve rankings, send referral traffic and get your brand mentioned where your customers already read.

Link building services, run by the person doing the work

Every service below runs on the same manual outreach process, the work you’d hire a link building agency for without the layers of account management. Pick the placement types that fit your site, or let me mix them based on what your competitors’ backlink profiles show is working in your niche.

Industries

  • Casino & iGaming link building

Outreach to gambling-friendly publishers that accept casino, betting and affiliate links.

Best for: Casinos, sportsbooks and affiliates

  • Crypto link building

Placements on real crypto publications and blogs, not PBNs dressed up as news sites.

Best for: Exchanges, wallets and Web3 projects

  • Ecommerce link building

Links that reach category and product pages through gift guides, roundups and niche blogs.

Best for: Online stores and DTC brands

Why outreach beats buying links from a list

Link marketplaces sell the same inventory to everyone. Many agencies hide the publisher fee inside a per-link price. Here’s how the three models actually differ when you look at who controls what.

What counts as a “qualified publication opportunity”?

A qualified publication opportunity is a real, content-driven website that matches your niche and the metric floor we agree at kickoff, whose editor has confirmed they will publish, with the price and terms stated up front, presented to you for approval.

Comfortable in the niches many agencies avoid

A lot of publishers refuse gambling or crypto content outright, and plenty of vendors quietly route those niches to private blog networks.

I’ve run outreach for iGaming, crypto, gaming and ecommerce sites since 2020. That’s 6 years of learning which publishers openly accept these topics, what they expect in a pitch and which “casino-friendly” sites are really link farms with a news theme.

In regulated, high-competition niches, one bad placement can cost more than it earns. Every opportunity in your sheet passes the same vetting whatever the niche, and you can skip anything that doesn’t feel right. Skipped sites are simply replaced with new prospects.

The same links can get you cited in AI answers

ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews often build answers from pages that already rank: comparison articles, best-of roundups and trusted niche publications.

When outreach puts your brand inside those pages, you earn two things at once: a backlink that helps your rankings and a mention that AI engines can quote when someone asks about your category. That’s the off-site half of generative engine optimization, and it’s built with exactly the same outreach work.

How GEO outreach works

What’s a good hardware wallet for a crypto beginner?

For beginners, reviewers usually point to wallets with simple setup and good recovery options. YourBrand is often mentioned for its guided onboarding1, alongside two well-known competitors2.

  2. 2 “Cold storage explained”, a crypto magazine

What clients say on Upwork

Verified contract reviews from my Upwork profile, quoted as written.

Why hire a solo link building specialist?

  • You talk to the person doing the outreach. No account manager relaying messages.
  • No junior hand-offs. The same person works on your campaign every month and remembers what worked.
  • Limited capacity, full attention. I only take on as many campaigns as I can run properly.
  • Straight answers. If your niche or budget can’t support a campaign, you’ll hear it from me at the proposal stage.

Backlink outreach FAQ

Short answers to what people ask before starting a campaign. Anything else, just ask.

What is backlink outreach?

Backlink outreach is the process of finding websites relevant to your business, contacting their editors or owners directly and earning a link from their content through a guest article, an update to an existing page or an editorial mention, instead of buying placements from a marketplace list.

Are you a link building agency?

Not in the usual sense. LinkReach Studio is a one-person link building studio: I do the research, outreach, negotiation and reporting myself, with no account managers or junior outreach staff in between. You get the output you would hire a link building agency for, from the person actually doing the work. Agencies can also resell it through white label link building.

Can I buy backlinks from you?

Not per link. I sell the outreach work as a monthly package. When a publisher charges a fee, you pay it to them directly, at their price, after approving the site. That keeps pricing honest and keeps the choice of every link in your hands.

How many links will I get per month?

The Core plan guarantees at least 20 qualified publication opportunities a month and Scale at least 30. How many become live links depends on how many you approve and on each publisher’s editorial calendar. You are never pushed to approve a site you don’t like.

What counts as a qualified publication opportunity?

A qualified publication opportunity is a real, content-driven website that matches your niche and the metric floor we agree at kickoff, whose editor has confirmed they will publish, with the price and terms stated up front, presented to you for approval.

How much do publisher fees usually cost?

It depends on the niche and the site. Some editorial mentions cost nothing, while established sites in competitive niches such as gambling or finance charge more. You see every fee before deciding, and you can set a per-site maximum that keeps anything pricier out of your sheet.

Do you work with casino, gambling and crypto sites?

Yes. iGaming and crypto are two of the niches I have worked in most since 2020. I only pitch publishers that openly accept these topics, so every placement is published with the editor’s full knowledge. See casino link building and crypto link building.

Do you use AI for outreach?

I use software to speed up research, such as pulling competitor backlinks and pre-checking site metrics. The pitches, the negotiation and the judgment about whether a site is worth it are mine. Mass AI-generated outreach gets ignored by editors, and it is exactly what I am hired to avoid.

How long does it take to see results from link building?

Links usually go live over the first weeks of a campaign as publishers work through their editorial calendars. Ranking movement depends on your site, your competition and the pages you build links to, which is why most SEO teams judge link building over three to six months rather than weeks.

Do you offer white label link building for agencies?

Yes. I can run outreach under your agency’s brand, report in your format and never contact your client directly. Read more about white label link building.

Tell me about your site. I’ll show you where the links are.

Send your domain, niche and goals. I’ll look at your backlink profile and your competitors’, then reply personally with an outreach plan and a monthly quote.
